Biography
Victoria Baucom-Berkeley is a business woman, social activist and researcher. Hailing from Washington DC, upon arrival in St. Kitts and Nevis, she initially started an import business, specializing in supplying disposable medical supplies and medical equipment to hospitals and medical professionals throughout the Caribbean. However, she saw a need to address social issues prevalent in her community as she observed the trials and tribulations at risk youth endured on a daily basis. Enlisting the assistance of other grass roots volunteers a feasibility study was conducted to determine how best to empower and train the children. Based upon the results of the study, the Community Achievers Project (CAP) was launched. CAP received funding and technical assistance from numerous international agencies. Dr. William Connor, Irishtown, Tucker Clarke and Beach Allen primary schools were recipients of CAP's literary and health related programs. Realizing many of her youth and parents suffered from a host of health issues, she and her husband Sydney Berkeley, an herbalist and organic farmer, launched another business, Riches of the Earth Organic Farm, creating natural medicinal products using fruits, vegetables, leaves, seeds, nuts and herbs from their organic farm. She has made St. Kitts and Nevis her permanent home.
